The role can be performed hybrid for those based in San Francisco, Salt Lake City, or New York City. We’ll also consider fully remote candidates in the following markets: Portland, OR, Seattle, WA, and Boston, MA.
The Opportunity
The Senior Research Analyst (SRA) at Method Communications will design, manage and execute primary, secondary and digital analytics research projects. The SRA role reports to the Vice President of Market Research. The SRA is a tech-savvy professional who is adept at independently managing qualitative, quantitative, and secondary research projects for clients across industries and accounts. The SRA collaborates well with account leads, clients, and research colleagues to develop quality outputs that help drive client business objectives and goals.
The SRA helps to build a strong marketing research discipline and service offering within the agency. In this role, the SRA provides strategic guidance for the agency on ways in which it can expand and grow this practice area. This includes making recommendations on tools Method should invest in and expanded services offerings Method should consider.
In this role, the SRA will provide strategic guidance for clients and team leads. This includes consulting on focus areas including topics or themes, targeting strategies, research methodology and other factors for consideration when building a go-to-market plan. The SRA will support market research in the design, management and execution of primary, secondary and digital analytics research projects. As part of this role, you will work collaboratively with other marketing and PR managers to develop a thorough content strategy in an effort to support research findings through owned, earned and paid content.
Responsibilities
Project and Account Management
- Manage client and internal research projects & communication from kick-off all the way through analysis delivery and post-project support
- Delegate tasks and coordinate work among members of the research team as part of project management
- Advise clients and internal teams on research approach recommendations, strategy, decision-making, timelines, data use best practices, etc
- Serve as a daily point of contact on research programs with colleagues, vendors, and clients, ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables
- Provide ongoing strategic support to PR and content teams following the conclusion of research projects to help validate and confirm the accuracy of press releases, support content, etc.
New Business Support
- Support business development and revenue growth for research by
- identifying new research opportunities among existing PR accounts
- providing internal teams and clients with assets and information about research
- spotting media whitespace and opportunities for clients and brainstorming relevant project topics
- scope and sell projects
- Manage the development of case studies, example deliverables, and other assets to be used as research project sales collateral
- Create, compile, and share sales assets with internal teams who have clients interested in research, and educate colleagues and others on Method’s research service offerings and processes
- Identify new opportunities for data and research projects among current and potential clients
Research Support
- Source vendor quotes for specific audiences and explore/vet potential data providers and research partners; manage vendor relationships and data collection to ensure perfect quality in their work
- Prepare research proposals outlining possible topics, dream headlines, timelines, etc.
- Conduct background research on existing studies to help clients vet and determine appropriate research topics
- Draft and review questionnaires
- Develop banner plans for data vendors (identify and specify data comparisons for analysis)
- Manage primary data collection
- Analyze findings and identify key insights from data supporting strategy, messaging, positioning, branding, etc.
- Stay abreast of research industry trends and developments to help Method Research grow and develop in the latest skills and expertise and support identification of research areas to expand service offerings
- Identify and implement process improvements for the team
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in market research, advertising, management consulting, brand strategy, communications, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Practical experience in both qualitative and quantitative market research, including using a variety of statistical analyses and data types
- Ability to design primary research materials (questionnaires, discussion guides, report templates), oversee primary data collection, use and interpret crosstabs, and prepare analysis reports with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with and manipulate raw data in Excel to create custom pivot tables, calculations, customized data groupings, code open-ended response data, etc.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with a range of qualitative and quantitative surveying tools, including a background in basic programming
- Familiarly with a variety of research suppliers and vendors across the industry and experience working with and managing them
- Comfortable working directly with clients to understand and develop research strategy
- Ability to make recommendations for integrated research programs that include other marketing components such as content, copy, and social media
- Ability to work independently, self-directed, strong work ethic, and adherence to deadlines
- Demonstrated effective client management (internal or external) skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Collaborative, team-oriented individual with a big-picture mindset who is open to feedback
- Passion for discovery and a commitment to developing skills and helping team members learn on a daily basis

Final compensation for this role will be determined by a number of factors including candidate’s education, relevant work experience and geographic location.
